Founding Director of ADVANCED AQUARIUM TECHNOLOGIES®, John Langmead, has secured a license from Germany’s Evonik Industries – a global specialty chemicals companies – to manufacture PLEXIGLAS® brand acrylic at a new, state-of-the-art, purpose-built production plant in Guangdong, China. The sales, marketing and distribution of PLEXIGLAS® will operate via the new unit – AAT ACRYLICS.
John Langmead, CEO of ADVANCED AQUARIUM TECHNOLOGIES®, with Dr Gerd Jonas, Director Project Business and Wolfgang Stuber, Manager Project Business of Evonik Industries at the AAT ACRYLICS production plant in Guangdong, China.
High quality, large format acrylic is immensely strong, versatile and perfectly clear. It is used to make viewing windows, tunnels and domes in aquaria, zoos, swimming pools and for other innovative features. However, recently major construction projects have, at times, been held up as global production of high quality, large format acrylic can’t keep pace with demand. This initiative is driven by ADVANCED AQUARIUM TECHNOLOGIES® desire to give clients more control over the timing of their projects.
“We decided that the best way to help clients regain control of the timing of their aquarium construction projects was to increase the world’s supply of high quality, large format acrylic. So that is exactly what we have done. Our production capacity will be able to serve many other acrylic uses and applications too.” said John Langmead, CEO, ADVANCED AQUARIUM TECHNOLOGIES®.
