Dongtou Island is a beautiful place, one of a series of islands in the East China Sea near Wenzhou, in Zhejiang province, China.
AAT and Verse Designed collaborated on the design of a stunning aquarium for a proposed resort on the island, which was planned to feature hotels, apartments and villas, too.
Designers placed visitor experiences at the heart of the concept, with facilities for swimming with the animals, fish and shark feeding and scuba-diving.
The main aquarium exhibit provided inspiring views for the resort’s dining and spa areas.
Unfortunately, the proposal was placed on hold due to zoning considerations. Even so, the concepts clearly demonstrate the creativity and visionary thinking injected into aquarium design projects, and the value of collaboration.
