Largest theme and education park in Greece provides fun for all the family with an innovative aquarium built by Advanced Aquarium Technologies (AAT).

Project Overview

Located within the Golden Hall Shopping Center Mall, Xplore is a 4,500 square meters multi-zone kids edutainment space.

The interactive Ocean section occupies about 1,200 square meters featuring an aquarium with 2,000 fish, 140 species and 20 exhibits.

AAT created eighteen of the displays using Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) tanks assembled at the firm’s global manufacturing hub in Asia. Offsite prefabrication reduces lead times and lowers of the cost of producing exhibits of exceptional authenticity and quality. AAT constructed two more extensive exhibits using concrete, on-site.

AAT also installed distinctive acrylic demi-tunnels to enhance the visitors’ journey through to the main tank. Demi-tunnels provides a unique view of the exhibits and an exceptional walk-through experience.

AAT Life Support Systems (LSS) are designed for low operator input and cater for tropical marine water, subtropical marine water, cold marine water and temperate marine water.

The LSS is a closed-loop system using artificial saltwater manufactured on-site. Backwash recovery assists in keeping operational costs to a minimum.

XPLORE also awarded AAT a 2-year Operations & Maintenance Service contract, which effectively outsources to AAT responsibility for everyday tasks such as feeding and animal care, life support system monitoring and management and cleaning the acrylic windows, tank-floor and coral features.
