Project Overview

In 2004 a major refurbishment of the building, exhibits and life support systems commenced.  AAT were engaged to implement a complete redesign to the existing life support system on 2x one million litre tanks. Whilst still in operation AAT decommissioned the gravity sand filters and replaced with vertical bed pressurised sand filters saving a huge amount of floor area. These improvements allowed for the addition of a new 300,000 litre exhibit, Stingray Bay as well as the room needed for the exhibit LSS system. The new system was fit with an impressive electronic monitoring, control and reporting automation systems.

AAT also replaced the ocean water intake from the Aquarium to sea access.
