Project Overview

What’s 4.2 meters long, weighs 365 kilos and has a heavy set of jaws? Wild Life Sydney’s enormous croc. Their new family member travelled 1,500 kilometres from Rockhampton, Queensland to star in the refurbished, crocodile exhibit.

As part of the refurbishment, AAT supplied seven acrylic panels including a curved demi tunnel and large 360 degree cylinder. The acrylic allows for extraordinary, crystal clear, close-up views and has also improved the functionality of the exhibit in terms of animal movement and behaviour.

AAT provided specialist guidance on several design concepts to help achieve an effective outcome. Once the design was confirmed fabrication of the panels was carried out in AAT’s two acrylics facilities in Australia and China to ensure a quick turnaround. Four acrylic installers worked over 5 days to get the project completed in time for the launch of the new experience.
