Advanced Aquarium Technologies (AAT) plays a leading role in the delivery of a world-record-setting public aquarium exhibiting 10,000 aquatic creatures.

Project Overview

Opened on New Year’s Eve 2014, this spectacular public aquarium attracts visitors from around China and the world to Chengdu’s Seaside City shopping precinct.

The 8,500,000-litre main exhibit tank has a 40-metre-long x 8.3-metre-high viewing panel certified at the time by the Guinness Book of World Records as:

  • The world’s largest acrylic window; and
  • The world’s largest aquarium window.

Phase 1

Design

The first phase addresses feasibility, budgeting, concept development, creative themes, visitor-experience design and journey-mapping, detailed engineering and project planning.

Phase 2

Build

The second phase focuses on acrylic manufacturing, construction and installation, the supply and installation of life support systems, waterproofing, lighting, filling and stocking the tanks.

Phase 3

Operate

The third phase includes handing the aquarium over to its owners and operators. Also included this phase, for older aquariums, are services relating to refurbishment and renovation.
