Dolphin Discovery Centre, Bunbury, Australia

Centre for care and conservation undergoes major refurbishment with new exhibits and life support systems (LSS) made by Advanced Aquarium Technologies (AAT).

Project Overview

The Dolphin Discovery Centre at Bunbury, Western Australia, has a long history of dolphin conservation, care and education with a focus on the marine mammals living nearby in Koombana Bay.

In collaboration with Perkins Construction, the lead contractor, AAT built and installed 12 Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) tank exhibits – complete with acrylic panels and a new LSS – as part of a $12.9 million makeover.

Bunbury Dolphin Discovery Centre

Advanced Aquarium Technologies’ sister-company, AAT Acrylics, manufactured the viewing panels used for this project.

The resulting interpretative centre features 13 aquariums, interactive exhibits, children’s activity centre and a 360-degree digital dolphinarium.

AAT commissioned the new aquarium and supplied training and handover services to the Dolphin Discovery Centre staff.
